Frédéric Bélot

Photography is a question of atmosphere. Every image captures a light, a breath, an emotion — a gaze that lingers on details, natural moods, authentic moments. Every photograph is composed like a scene: a balance of silence, composition and vibration.

This pursuit came late, almost by chance, carried by a taste for travel and the wish to hold on to a moment before it disappears. Since then, I photograph in reportage, in immersion : I blend into the setting, I watch from a distance, I let what's really happening come to me rather than provoking it. Facing a face just as I face a landscape, I look for the same thing — a natural, unposed presence, the truth of a moment rather than its staging.

Photography isn't my profession : it's a passion for beauty and truth. I chasethe photograph, knowing that beyond technique, luck always plays a part.
